 There is hope!

"For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease." Job14vs7.

The believer is often typified by a tree in the scriptures. A tree represents life, vitality, endurance, and fruitfulness. Some trees live for several hundreds of years, so does that one who is born of GOD, and has implanted within him the life of Christ.

This is distinctly different from fallen man. He will die and not live again, in the eternal spiritual sense, death is his portion forever. His life is short, his deeds, compared to eternity and GOD, are insignificant, he will not be remembered, thou in this life he flourished like a green bay tree. When once he is cut down, he will be cast into the fire. Matthew 3vs10 "And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."

But every true believer has hope in his casting down. “That it will sprout again”. The trials that God’s children endure, the falling, but not running into sin, being cast down and entangled in sin, humbles them and causes them to ”abound in hope through believing” Rom 15vs13 , rather than to despair of hope.

This is a strange thing, and yet it is so! Prov 24vs6 "For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief". Look if you will, count him out for good if you wish, declare him dead, eulogize him as gone forever, it will be in vain!

Every believer will rise again, sooner or later, he must. Whether it be now or in glory, the lowly believer will rise again, he must. Whether in this life before his enemies, GOD will set a table for him in the presence of them, or in the GREAT raising up of the whole assembly of the righteous, that Christ might be admired in them, they shall rise again! They must!

Why? Because the life of the believer is the indestructible life of their Highpriest and Savior, the one who mediates for them, the one who was cast down first. Heb 7vs15-16 "And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life".

The circumstances of life, the weakness of the flesh, the assaults and conflicts of the enemy, can no more utterly cast down and destroy the believer, than it could our Glorious Captain and brother. For us to fall and not rise again, for us to be cut down and not once again flourish is tantamount to GOD failing! This can never be!

So there is hope, only in Christ! See John 14vs9.
