“The Prophet, Machaiah” Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a
lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil
against thee. 1kg 22:23 How, tragic it is, to live amongst a
generation of religionist, without a true prophet. One who does not
always say what the people want. Nor is his prophesy of the favorable kind,
always. “God will bless you, He will prosper you, your season is upon you. The
harvest of blessing is at hand. Etc.” How different, are the prophets of scripture,
from the profiteers today. 2Pet 2:1-3 Machaiah was truly a man of God, with a
backbone that conveys a fear of God, which shuns the populous, or the favor of
prestigious men. He could plainly and in a straightforward manner; with no
ambiguous or convoluted esotericism, employed to keep the people guessing
precisely what he meant. “ we use great plainness of speech” 2or3:12,
declare the TRUTH of God, in no uncertain terms. He would not be
misunderstood. Liked or disliked he was a clear trumpet in his day. This was our Lords manner of speech. It was
also the Apostles. The former said, “ No man can come unto me, unless the Father which hath sent me,
draw Him” The latter said, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having
itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall
be turned unto fables.” Micaiah was compelled to explain, the cause
of so much false doctrine and teaching rampant in religion in his day. He
attributes it, to God’s just judgment, upon those persons who have not a love
for the truth, that they might be saved. Who both hate, and despise the gospel
of God’s Sovereign Grace. “A demonic delusion” “I hate Him” 1kg 22:8 And for this cause God
shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they
all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in
unrighteousness. 2Thess 2:11,12 “The hidden ground of all false
prophets and teachers”. Keil/Deltzsch. Behind the unified voice of all the prophets standing
in the kings court, assuring the King of prosperity, vs11, was the influence of
the spirit of err, working a delusion in the mouth of these bogus mystics,
which served to further deceive the king, whose desire was to advance His
wickedness abroad. Sent by God, vs21, Who is King of Kings, and
His decrees and purposes always stand, both the saving of His people, by the
merits of His glorious Son, or the just damning of unbelievers, who willfully
resist His revelation and truth, Ahab and all today, who insist on their will,
are subject to God’s counsel. He has made it plain, all efforts to escape,
short of genuine repentance, is futile. 1Kg 22:32-37 |
